Austin Texas Embassy Suites Hotel Rooms

We just returned from a nice relaxing trip in Austin Texas. Since we are heading there to watch the Formula one race later this year we figured we would make a dry run and get away at the same time.

We chose the Embassy Suites hotel for a few reasons. Its proximity to downtown Austin, where all the good restaurants are and for the distance to the track. All the hotels are about the same distance so we picked the one that we have stayed at the most, that would be Embassy Suites.

After a 10-15 minute cab ride from the airport which cost about $25 we settled in and was greeted by some of the nicest people. The manager was standing outside when we arrived and helped us get our bags out of the cab. Just a fluke of course but what a way to be greeted at the door.

When we checked in the people at the front desk were great they even told us some places to go to eat and they were very friendly. After checking in we had the bell hop take our bags up to our room while we checked out the lobby gift shop to get some water.

We went up to our room on the 8th floor which had a nice view of Austin. I took out my Sony camera and took some pictures of the skyline and the Bat bridge. After that we decided to go check out one of the places that the front desk told us about for lunch. We left the hotel and walked 1/2 block to the left and crossed the street to a place called Aussies.

I had one of the best cheeseburgers in my life and the staff was great. Nice little place to have a quick lunch. After lunch we went back to the hotel to freshen up and shower.

We get back to the hotel and meet some friends in the lobby then head up to the room. I took a quick shower which had good hot water. Then I went to the bedroom and took an hour nap.

I woke up refreshed and ready to see Austin and go to dinner with friends. I brewed up a cup of coffee in the room's coffee pot which was surprisingly very good. It is not often that hotel coffee is any good

We head down to the lobby and on our way down we get on the elevator with someone from the maintenance staff and he asks us how our stay is and tells us if there is anything he can fix to let him know. I was totally taken back by this as what hotel does this? Not many that is for sure. I felt like I was home the whole trip. The people were so kind every where we went in the hotel.

Free Breakfast

Next day we head down to the free breakfast and to tell you the truth I was expecting cold cereal or something simple. What we found was a nice buffet of scrambled eggs, potatoes, French toast along with the usual cereals. They also had a station with fresh muffins and one with fruit. The real nice thing they did was a chef preparing omelets made to order. There was a little line for this but well worth it.

The only downside to the breakfast was finding a place to eat since the tables were all full, after a few minutes we had a clean table to enjoy our breakfast. They had a breakfast crew there that was cleaning tables as fast as they could but they just don't have enough tables and chairs to accommodate the amount of people. They could solve this problem by opening the bar/restaurant right near the breakfast area.

After breakfast we headed out to a charter boat on lake Travis for the day and returned back t the hotel for some quick R-N-R then find a place for dinner. We asked at the front desk and they recommended a place called Maria Maria which is owned by Carlos Santana and featured great Mexican dinners.  Since there was 6 of us they put us in the hotel shuttle and drove us there. We had a great meal, I had the Pepper steak which was a little too spicy for me but was still ok.

After that we checked out a pub that was on the roof nearby where we stayed for 2 hours since there was a nice view of the city and a nice warm breeze. Then it was back to the hotel.

After a good nights sleep on their comfortable mattress's it was off to another day where we did a mock run to where they are building the F1 racetrack. The front desk gave us directions and we were off. After stopping a few times to take pictures we found the place and then headed back to downtown to do some sight seeing.

If you are heading to the Formula one race or you just want a relaxing stay in Austin I highly recommend staying at the Embassy Suites.
