Chicago More Than Just The Windy City
by K Watkins
If you say the windy city everyone knows what city you are talking
about and that is the great city of Chicago Illinois. In recent years
Chicago has seen tremendous growth in their city. They have fast
become one of the top convention cities around.
Since becoming a convention destination Chicago had to make their
hotels top notch and they definitely have done that. Two come to mind
very quickly when you stay in Chicago. The first is the Peninsula
Hotel built in 2001 it has a rooftop pool and breathtaking skyline
views. With over 19,000 feet of meeting space this hotel meets all the
travelers needs whether business or just to get away.
The Drake is and old time favorite among Chicago's long time residents
and vacation travelers alike. Opened in 1920 and has been the hotel
stop for many stars. The hotel has an old fashion look but is far from
old fashion. The Drake has recently gone under 100 million dollar
renovation but still has the charming look.
Chicago has a lot of things to do and a lot of the things are bigger
here than anywhere else. For instance Chicago has the biggest library
Harold Washington center and the biggest bakery Nabisco. But besides
the big things Chicago is a sports juggernaut too. With all major
sports playing their and the college teams throughout the state there
is always something to do in Chicago if your a sports fan. You have
the White Sox and Cubs in baseball and the Bears in football. The city
fills with race fans when Nascar comes to town.
Art lovers are not left out in the cold either as their are plenty for
them to do to. A stop at the Chicago zoo is a place your whole family
will enjoy too. As you can see Chicago has plenty to do.
You can also head down to Grant park for some nice peaceful time
and overlook the views of lake Michigan. This park also holds the
famous "Taste of Chicago Festival" every year which has a who's who
list of restaurants from the city all in one place. You can get
samples of all the city's restaurants all in one place. They also have
free concerts from big named star's like Leann Rimes and LL Cool J.
If you are looking for a hotel within walking distance to Grant
park look at our review of the
Congress Plaza Hotel.
