Flying Jet Blue Airlines To Las Vegas In Style by Vince O'Hare

My last trip out to Las Vegas was in Early May of 2005 and I did something that I usually don't do, I flew on a different airline. That airline was Jet Blue.

From the moment I got to the airport until the moment I was standing in Las Vegas baggage claim it was a very nice trip. My flight was from JFK airport in New York City and we took off right on time around 6am and landed about 30 minutes early.

Upon arrival in the morning at JFK this ticket less airline made it easy for me. I walked up to the kiosk at the airport and scanned the e-ticket that I printed on my computer and it printed my boarding pass. Since I had to check a bag I proceeded to the ticket counter where a very friendly agent lady took my bag.

I settled into the very spacious terminal and turned on my laptop and surfed the internet for free. Jet Blue gives out free Wi-Fi in the airport terminal. Although it was only for 15-20 minutes it was cool that I could check my email before getting on the plane.

Then I got a cup of coffee and a magazine from one of the many restaurants/concession stands and walked towards security checkpoint. I had to drink the coffee fast as there was no line at all. I was through the checkpoint in minutes since it was off peak times that helped too.

Getting on the plane I grabbed a pair of the free headphones and was greeted by a very friendly flight crew. Settling into my seat and getting my headphones on I couldn't believe how smooth everything was so far.

I took out my Money magazine and started to read a few pages until the captain turned on the television that was on the back of the seat in front of me. That's right all Jet Blue planes have about 30 channels of Direct Tv satellite television. No longer would I have to sit through a lousy movie like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" when I am flying on a long trip.

Did I mention that the headphones were free? Usually the airline charges you $3-5 dollars for headphones that cost about 30 cents in bulk. Since it was 6am I was able to see the early news and the weather in Las Vegas. Then I switched over and watched Sportscenter on ESPN.

The crew was very polite and they came around and gave me coffee during the early part of the trip and water later on. If you are taking this airline remember that they don't serve food so they can keep the cost down. Grab a sandwich and take it on the plane with you. As you can tell Jet Blue is now my favorite airline.

It seems that every time I update this page Jet Blue is flying somewhere else. They are currently having a sale to Chicago from New York City for $36. If you are looking to take a trip but you don't know where you would like to go check out JetBlue as they are always running crazy bargains on airfare.
