Finding A Hotel In New York City Is Not That Hard At All if You Know Where To Look by Jack Hilton Back in the day it really use to be tough to find a bargain on a New York City hotel but that is no longer the case. If you are coming into the city to do some bargain shopping in one of the many stores or just to do some tourist site seeing you might as well just get a hotel room and stay over. This way you could do two days in New York City and do both in one trip. Cheap Hotels in New York City Some of the better of the cheap hotels are the Milford Plaza and the Pennsylvania hotel. The Milford is on 8th ave around 43rd street and the Pennsylvania is on 33rd and 7th avenue. Right across the street from Madison Square Garden. When my friends Ed, Lois and Sasha stayed in New York they wanted to be close to Times Square so I had them book a room at the Milford Plaza since it is only a block from Times Square. I have also stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot on 38th street and 5th avenue. This hotel is a half block away from Bryant park and you also get some great pictures of the Empire State Building. There are many hotels that are really cheap but you may not want the cheapest. These hotels are really bad and some you even have to share a bathroom. These are ones to avoid. I have stayed at the Carter hotel one block from Times Square and the rooms are cheap, usually around $100 but I can't recommend that hotel unless all you need is a place to sleep. It certainly isn't the Waldoff Astoria and it doesn't try to be. There is a Best Western around 23rd street which is not that bad for about $125 a night if you book a long time in advance.
