So it’s time to plan the next fun family vacation. What types of recreational activities would everyone enjoy, and where are the travel locations that fit into your household budget?

Believe it or not, if you’re looking for an indoor water park hotel, Michigan is the place to be. The state is home to seven parks with two more slated to open in the next two years.

Thanks to its proximity to the Canadian border and appeal as a central stopping point, the state is flooded with family-friendly hotels offering indoor water sports and entertainment.

To learn more about the most popular indoor water park hotels in Michigan, read on.

Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, MI

Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City is part of a chain of family resorts in North America that caters to local family vacations. Each of their hotels offers visitors massive indoor water parks and family suites designed to afford parents privacy. They have lots of kid activities and are very focused on safety.

Be prepared to pay for these luxuries though. A two-night stay for a family of four, including meals, could easily cost you close to a thousand dollars. After you pay for a suite (typically costs around $300 per night) and your meals and gas, you’re looking at an expensive weekend. If you’re visiting Great Wolf on a long weekend or during school holidays, book well in advance.

Gold Rush Water Park at the Double JJ Ranch and Resort

About five miles from Lake Michigan and in close proximity to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the Double JJ Ranch and Resort offers an indoor water park hotel, Michigan wilderness and lots of outdoor activities for the kids.

Unfortunately, the room quality isn’t as high as other resorts, but it’s fine for a quick stop with the kids. You can expect to pay between $125 and $200 a night for a family of four, but don’t expect room service or marble-tiled bathrooms.

The Boyne Mountain Resort and the Avalanche Bay Water Park

The Boyne Mountain Resort is unique in that it combines a ski resort with an incredible water park and on-site spa. So, dad can spend the day skiing, mom can hit the spa and the older kids can enjoy a day at the water park. In the summer, you’ll also find hiking and biking trails along with a public golf course with reasonable green fees.

The best part is that you can choose between the budget lodgings at Boyne Mountain (between $75 and $100) and the higher end accommodations at the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa, which is actually connected to the Avalanche Bay water park.

So, if you want a vacation that includes an indoor water park hotel, Michigan is definitely the place to be. They have resorts for every budget and lots of travel options that go beyond the water park.

Choose Your Mode Of Transportation And Enjoy

by admin on January 2, 2009

Traveling can be one of the most exhilarating experiences as long as you know the right tips and techniques to sstay comfortable. It is important to master the different modes of travel so you can get the best of deals and seats. I learned a lot by traveling both short and long distances and occupying almost every space obtainablein any type of vehicle. Here are some guidelines on how to stay safe and happy regardless of the current rush or situation.

Plane Guidelines

You may now get airline tickets via the internet. Gazing at my travel alarm clocks, I contacted a few of my friends online then set the date, time and exact seat I wanted on the plane. Scheduling early is one vital thing, but you also have to report to the airport on time or else they might give it to another. I find that the seats facing the lavatory as well as those near the emergency exits are the best since you getmore leg room. Always aim for these when making reservations.

Bring the necessary items that will keep your mind off air pockets and airsickness such as a book, mp3 player or your laptop. Doing work on the plane can actually cut time in half, so sometimes I’d just choose to pay more getting larger seats and a big working space in first-class. You may also chooseto get two seats instead to get the space you want. If you’re prone to airsickness, prepare medications, eye shutters and a paper bag.

Car Guidelines

Being in the road for long periods can be very boring and sickening. I was transporting my mantel clocks from one city to the next during Christmas with my kids, so I decided to set up quick rules and laws to keep the trip as safe and fun as possible. Assign roles to your kids and give them small responsibilities over their other siblings. Make the necessary stopovers and give them all they need like food, crayons and diapers.

The secret in traveling with kids is to take pleasure inthe journey and not rush to the destination as quickly as possible. Play games, go sightseeing and sing songs along the way. Make sure you child-proof the vehicle to prevent any damage.

Traveling by Boat

travel alarm clocks are very useful when you’re traveling on water since there are actually people who get disoriented by staying out at sea for more than a couple of hours. Try to find land and set your eyes on it whenever you can to prevent seasickness. If you feel sick by staying in the cabin, stay out on the deck with other people and enjoy the breeze. Bring medications as needed and avoid reading or working on your computer momentarily. You’ll most likely acclimatize in a few hours or days.

Also choose the foods you eat while traveling at sea. I personally find eating meat to be upsetting for my stomach when I’m traveling so I stick to lighter meals like chewing on carrots and drinking water only. I try to avoid alcohol and smoking altogether when going by boat. Taking a shower also helps eliminate impending headaches and dizziness.

Do you want to enjoy the luxury of great beach vacations but find it hard to pick a destination? You’re not alone, that’s for sure. There are a lot of great beach vacations by the East Coast that you can go on from Bermuda to Georgia. Here are 5 suggestions that might pique your interest and help narrow down your choices of great beach vacation places.

Bermuda
Jamaica
U.S. Virgin Islands
Georgia
Lakeside Resort Georgia

Do you know that there are thousands of beach vacation rentals out there? If you have been searching for one, you know that this is true.

But with so many choices, the task of making a choice is a very daunting one.

Making the best choice is even more daunting. But with the right eye, everything will seem much clearer to you.

In looking for a Beach Vacation Rental, many people take the clear risk of only concentrating on the fact that the vacation rental is near a beach. With so many choices, who could blame you?

But, just as when you’re looking to purchase a house plant you not only consider its suitability for the house but also its basic requirements to grow and thrive, so too you should consider what other aspects makes a vacation rental the best choice for you on your vacation.

Costa Teguise did not develop from a traditional village, but is a well designed purpose built tourist resort.

It is well laid out with shopping areas mingled around the various hotels and beaches.

Visit the main beach to find the wind surfing schools and a vast area of sandy beach with the usual amenities and a shopping centre behind it.

A lot of the hotels in the central area also have direct beach access. There is the only currently completed golf course on the island near to Costa Teguise.

Finding Costa Teguise Villas is commonplace and there are an excellent choice of villas to choose from.

When you are renting a villa in Lanzarote there are lots to see and do, as well as the beaches and Timanfaya National Park. The island is easy to explore either in a hire car or in organized tours. Take your pick!

A favorite location to visit, especially for my daughter, is the Cactus Garden, designed by local artist Cesar Manrique. There are a wide variety of cactus plants on show, well over a thousand species in fact, in this sunken display that can be sheltered from the hottest of the elements. There is also a restored white windmill to visit within the gardens, which also has the site’s caf

For many sun worshipers and golf enthusiasts that live in a seasonally cold climate, I have to regretfully inform you that the 2006 summer season is coming to a close.

The good news is that you may be planning your next sun drenched vacation to escape your cold winter, and if you are fortunate enough to get away this year, allow me to provide you some valuable travel information that can help you prevent any travel pitfalls!

Your vacation is supposed to be relaxing and carefree, and booking your holiday should be stress free as well.

When planning your vacation it’s always best to research your destination, accommodations, and flight itinerary months in advance, even though you’re thinking about jumping on a last minute package deal.

Now you may be the spontaneous individual that may say that planning in advance takes the fun out of your last minute booking, but I have come across many people that overlook some key travel requirements, and wind up experiencing a vacation nightmare!

Traveling is such an enjoyable experience that we wish we could do it all the time. Unfortunately most of us only get a couple weeks a year (if we’re lucky) to take our vacations.

In order to ensure that those trips are the very best and everything we expect (unlike the many travel movies where there are nightmares around every corner), we want to provide our top 10 travel tips so your vacations are very memorable – in a good way of course.

Among the most unforgettable activities an entire family can enjoy together, with the added benefit of creating stronger bonds, is to go on a family vacation. Most families find that they have to put off this kind of adventure until they can save or find the money to pay for it.

One way to get around this restriction is to research discount travel options; and, believe me, these are plentiful once you know what you are doing.

Here are two easy ways for a family on a budget to be sure they can always enjoy a yearly vacation together.

First, scour the internet, or talk to their neighborhood travel agent to whom you’ve conveyed your requirements, to find the available discount travel deals which are being offered at prices that are significantly less than retail.

The second option is, set up a vacation budget into which you save enough money for your family vacation throughout the year.

Nowadays, with the advent of the internet, it is easier than you can imagine to find those great deals for memorable family travel.

There are many sub aqua schools in Puerto Del Carmen for both the learner, the experienced and those wanting to further their diving log book.

Both PADI and BSAC are generally taught and English is spoken at many diving schools.

Most schools use the same small bay from which shore entries and harbor entries are available on a range of dives, including a reef with Pink Coral.

Motoring further out are the Los Erizos wrecks in about 60 feet of water.

A collection of boats sunk to create an artificial reef for divers to explore just outside of the harbor entrance.

If you fancy seeing the different types of sea-life on offer, but don’t want to learn to dive, there is always the yellow submarine tour, which also visits the wrecks.

Keep an eye open for the divers watching the submarines go by… There are also cycle hire stores in the main shops and a new golf course under construction on the out skirts of the town.

With Lanzarote’s strict planning laws there are no high rise apartments in the resort. Finding villas to rent in Puerto Del Carmen is commonplace and there are an excellent choice of villas available.

If you are looking for places to visit when you have booked an apartment in Lanzarote to help you escape from the beach, then starting with Timanfaya Volcano Park is a must and may be top of your list if it is your first visit to the island.

You will first drive to the car park at the visitor centre. The journey through the park is an experience. It is described as being a lunar scene and that is truly the feeling that you do get as you gaze across fields of solidified volcanic lava that have been untouched since they were laid down. The area is now a protected park to help preserve this landscape.

When you arrive at the car park at the top of the visitor center there are an abundance of uniformed guides to entertain you. They will show how a bucket of water emptied down into a bore hole erupts seconds later as steam, heated amazingly fast just by the heat of the rocks below the ground. Another favorite show is to place some brushwood into the rocks and then it is pulled out burning not long later. Again, this is just the heat of the rocks.

Also within the visitor centre is a fairly unique restaurant. There are no conventional ovens. Instead the food is cooked from the heat given off from a hole in the rocks. The demonstrations of the heat given off from the subterranean rocks are definitely varied!

There is also a guided coach tour from the visitor center that lets tourists see a little more of the area and the rock formations. All of this makes Timanfaya, Fire Mountain, worthy of a visit!

Getting Around Spain’s Costa Del Sol In A Hire Car

Over the entire Costa Del Sol region there is plenty of choice in Costa Del Sol Apartments and for a good selection look no further than a Casares Del Sol Apartment. But what is there to when you are there?

The best way to explore the Costa del Sol is by car, as this allows you the freedom to visit the different towns and villages as and when you desire, without needing to rely on public transport.

Here is some ideas to just some of the cultural and historical attractions surrounding Costa del Sol that you can visit during your holiday:

The city of Malaga should be the first call for any culture lover on a holiday on the Costa del Sol. Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga in 1881 and you can visit the house in which he was born, the Casa Natal de Picasso, which is situated in the Plaza del Merced. The three-storey building contains personal artifacts belonging to the Picasso family together with samples of Picasso’s prints, ceramics and graphic art. There is also a large collection of works by more contemporary artists.

A short walk from the Casa Natal de Picasso is the Museo Picasso M

Ways To Have A Blast At Ohio Theme Grounds

by admin on December 29, 2008

Every year, millions of Americans weigh their travel options when considering a fun trip for the entire family - and many love theme parks.

Ohio theme parks are some of the best in the world, with the biggest rides and even bigger thrills for a family vacation. But, these major tourist destinations can also be a major headache.

From the lines to the ticket prices, a trip to the park is often easier said than done. So, if you’re planning an upcoming Ohio theme park vacation, keep reading for some tips and tricks that are essential to family survival.

Make Sure the Kids Are Ready

Certain rides may come with age restrictions, but theme parks don’t. However, just because you can take your three-year-old to Six Flags, does that mean you should?

Remember, younger children can really slow down the pace of the day as you make your way from the rides to the potty to the cafeteria and back to the rides. Smaller infants are often easier as they can be pushed in a stroller, but it also limits your options as a parent. However, before you take your kids to a theme park, ask yourself if they’re ready.

Have a Realistic Budget

A simple five day vacation to some of the best Ohio theme parks will cost you more than you might think. A family of four eating at restaurants, sleeping in hotels and paying for gas can easily work up a tab of well over $2000. So, be realistic about your budget.

Start saving by avoiding the pricey junk food stands and by toting plenty of healthy snacks, such as juice boxes, dry cereal and fruit, string cheese, and granola bars. Next, don’t buy items like sunscreen and film at park kiosks - the prices are generally higher than they’d be elsewhere.

Skip the Crowds

Finally, call the park you want to visit and ask for a vacation-planning guide and a map so you can plot out your plan of attack. In general, theme parks are laid out in a giant convoluted circle. Theme park vets will tell you that most people veer to the right after entering the gate - so go left and work your way through in a clockwise rotation.

An alternative crowd-avoidance tactic is to make a beeline straight to the back and spend your day working your way toward the front while the masses make their way to the back.

Avoid Lines

Buy tickets in advance. The main ticket window is one major line that can be skipped entirely. Arrive when the park opens with entry tickets in hand.

Good Theme Parks

The best known out of all the Ohio Theme Parks is the Cedar Point amusement park, the biggest park in the world. However, there are numerous others and multiple water parks in the surrounding area, such as King’s Island, Six Flags and SeaWorld. For more information, contact the Ohio Division of Travel and Tourism for additional details.

I would say that the main feature of Ethiopian towns is their diversity. Addis is modern, big, crowded and hilly, where Harar is an ancient walled city where you feel yourself slipping back in time. Axum by comparison often seems isolated and close to world’s end, while Bahirdar is relaxed and tropical.

Breathtakingly beautiful Gondar Ethiopia is typically Italian and art-deco in style. It is on the list of must-to-be-seen in Ethiopia for every traveler. Whichever route tourists take, Gondar is always one of the destinations.

Those who know Gondar well regard it as a very special place amidst 17th century castles that resemble something from a Disney fairytale and its attractive 1930’s architecture. One can also be tempted to linger much longer than planned by the sights and scents of a vast array of colorful flowers.

Gondar Ethiopia is situated in the North - West of Ethiopia, south is Tana Lake and north are the Simien Mountains. With impressive roads to the north and east many tourists travel to Gondar from Bahirdar, Axum or over the Simien Mountain range.

This region is among the best experiences of Ethiopia but is the most difficult to travel if we are talking about the main roads in the north of Ethiopia. The road to Axum, built by the Italians during there occupation of Ethiopia in the 1930’s is without any doubt, an extreme engineering undertaking. The road climbs and falls taking incredible bends for many more kilometers than the crow fly would suggest. It passes over the Simien mountain range, the highest in Ethiopia, which makes it another obligatory destination for tourists.

Trekking over the Simien Mountains is becoming more popular, tempting those who want the adventure of visiting one of the few remaining un-spoilt travel destinations. This is without doubt such a spot but only time and careful conservation will keep it that way.

Reaching Gondar finally, no matter from which direction, most are tempted to stay here for a bit longer. It is attractive. For those people looking for a glimpse of an ancient past Gondar has a great deal to offer including breathtaking views.

Ethiopia’s Capital
Gonder came into being as a trading post on the long distance routes that merchants used to carry gold, ivory and slaves. It is hard to establish when the place started to function as an urban center.

However, it is obvious that the beginning of its power was connected with moving the Empire’s political center towards the western part of the Abyssinian plateau in the 17th Cent. From that point forward it grew to be the fixed capital of the country, the first since the Axumite empire that predated it.

Before (and also after the so called “Gondarine Empire”), for most of the time the Emperor executed his power traveling together with his court and pitching a camp whenever needed for his purposes. Gonder was at the center of the Empire’s seat of power until the mid-19th century and then the town was abandoned and slowly deteriorated.

Italy began a war in Ethiopia and occupied the country from 1936. The Emperor, Haile Silassie I, aware of the fact, that staying in the country would mean death to him and those close to him, escaped to Europe to continue his struggle in excile. By the time of occupation by Italy, Gondar had been long forgotten, with old castles falling into pieces.

However, the town charmed and attracted Italians the most. Those who killed its people and settled in their country started a new phase in the history of Gondar. They declared it the capital of the province of Amhara and commenced the building of residences, government offices and hotels.

An artificial lake was also built to provide the provinces governor with a lakeside residency, what is now one of the most attractive Gonder hotels. Under the Italian influence the town developed an art-deco style, where Italian-style coffee places and restaurants were plenty as they still are to this day.

Perhaps Malaga province is best known for its whitewashed towns, but climb higher to find the more traditional and pretty ones. In the hills you will find delightful pueblos. Some bear the name of ‘Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos’, and there are up to 60 in total. If you are not staying in Casares Del Sol Villas then it is well worth the journey to the area.

For a brief tour take in Casares, travelling via Manilva on the MA 539, the Gaucin road. Or from Bahia Casares and past the complex of Casares Del Sol . Casares rises dramatically from a gorge. The view from the top of the village looking over the houses is breathtaking and is deservedly one of the most photographed villages in Spain!

On the steep approach road you will see viewpoints from where in good conditions you can watch peregrine falcons and kestrels soaring on thermals.

Casares is steeped in history and has Roman and Moorish influences. At the top is a Moorish Fort. The museum, albeit small is well worth visiting. Look for the metal gate in the churchyard from where captive soldiers from the Spanish civil war were reputedly thrown unceremoniously into the gorge.

From the peak of Casares one can see the loft heights of the Sierra Bermeja and in the other direction the valley of the Rio Genal.

Casares is best approached by foot heading down from the top of the village by the Restaurant La Terraza. The food and wine is excellent, but expect to pay tourist prices. Park your hire car either by a bar or at the car park on the bend, (you will see the Casares dust cart parked there) and climb down one of the footpaths that lead into the village.

On the way down marvel at the way the locals have adapted. For example they have provided bench seats out with the ‘up slope’ legs cut short so that one sits level whilst resting!

Pause awhile in the main square, Plaza de Espa

Most people who go on holiday, especially breaks by the beach in places like Spain, Portugal and France often end up staying in hotels and whilst I have nothing against them, there are plenty of other alternatives.

If you are planning a holiday with a group of friends or with your family, renting a villa can be an excellent idea.

You rent most villas on a weekly basis and when you first look at the price, it can often seem to be a little expensive. What you must remember is that you will be renting what effectively is a whole house and not just a room.

So if you are going on holiday as a family or with a group of friends it can actually work out to be really good value for money.

The most obvious advantage of a villa over a hotel is space, they are usually pretty big houses, this can be a real advantage especially if you have children, giving everyone space to relax and when needed, space to get away and enjoy some time alone and space to entertain.

When you are renting a Lanzarote villa there are lots to see and do, as well as the beaches and Timanfaya National Park.

The island is easy to get around whether in a hire car or in organized tours. Take your pick!

Finding the perfect holiday villa rental can become an exhausting search if you don’t first start with the basics. You first need to figure out exactly what you want in a holiday rental. Some people prefer a spacious place to stay for, while others prefer quaint and comfortable. Once you have established exactly what type of holiday rental you want, you can start your search by picking a location.

Location is important when trying to locate a discount holiday villa rental. Holiday villas vary greatly in price depending on where you go and when. If you can travel during the off-season, you are likely to find a better deal. Some great villa rentals are available at times you would least expect.

Holiday villas at locations whose focus is on the warm summer months can be found at a great discount during the winter months. There will still be a lot for you to enjoy, but you can do so with less crowds and for less expense.

Once you have decided on the location of your search next your need to set yourself a price scale. What are you prepared to pay for your perfect holiday villa rental? How much is the cost of living in the area you have chosen? You don’t want to put yourself in debt for a holiday.

Once you have decided your budget, stick to it. Your rental cost will just be one part of your total vacation cost, and you will want to make sure you have plenty of money left over to enjoy the rest of your trip.

When you have booked a villa in Lanzarote to help you escape from the beach, then visiting Timanfaya Volcano Park is a must and might be top of your list if it is your first visit to the island.

It is described as being a lunar scene and that is truly the impression that you do get as you look at fields of solidified volcanic lava that have been untouched since they were laid down. The area is now a protected park to help preserve this landscape.

Once you reach the car park at the top of the visitor center there are an abundance of uniformed guides to entertain you. They will demonstrate how a bucket of water emptied down into a bore hole erupts seconds later as steam, heated unbelievably quickly just by the temperature of the rocks below the ground. Another favorite trick is to place some brushwood into the ground and then it is pulled out burning not long later.

There is also a guided coach tour from the visitor center that lets tourists see a little more of the area and the rock formations. All of this makes Timanfaya, Fire Mountain, worthy of a visit!

Costa Teguise lies roughly centrally along the southern coast of Lanzarote, only around a twenty minute trip from the island’s capital in Arrecife. The island’s traditional capital of Teguise is only about 10 or 15 minutes away and is quiet, except during its weekly Sunday market, when many bargains and traditional products are to be discovered.

Costa Teguise did not start life as a traditional village, but is a well designed purpose built tourist resort. As such it is well laid out with shopping areas mingled around the various beaches and hotels. As with all of Lanzarote’s structures, there are no high rise building in sight and a large choice of villas, hotels and apartments.

Sea diving is possible from the one or two English speaking PADI and BSAC diving schools, but only really experience dives are carried out as the local playa, Playa Jabillo, at only 15 feet depth is not sufficient for the majority of training. Most dive schools will run customers along to Puerto Del Carmen or for something totally different, along to the lava caves of Mala.

On the main beach there are wind surfing schools and a vast area of sandy beach with the usual amenities and a shopping centre behind it. A lot of the hotels in the central area also have direct beach access. There is the only currently completed golf course on the island near to Costa Teguise.

Finding a villa in Costa Teguise is commonplace and there are an excellent choice of villas to choose from.

Or get yourself a vacation home :)
